BS 9251 2021 RULES

Grifen are the only company fully compliant with BS 9251 2021 rules.

In the weekly test both pressure switches (or a pressure switch and transducer) must be proven low pressure and high pressure- Grifen have been doing this for years. This is particularly tricky with 2 pumps, again with DUPLIC8 we've been doing this for years.

They are defined as devices, ie two separte devices with different modes of failure- this is exactly what we do.

A pump running signal needs to be given, we've been doing this from the start.

The weekly test, power failed and pump running signal are a common alarm but can be specified as multiple alarms.

Phase failure warning is also now required on three phase pumps.

Cat 4 water supplies need to be 60 minutes.

Flow switches need to meet EN12259-5. We use the Potter LPCB approved switch but still give you double knock and an LCD readout of the flow switch count. All our CAT 2, 3 and 4 products also tell you on screen if the flow switch is in the wrong position.

If a weekly test fails on both switches the pump must run on we comply with it.

GRIFEN  have a system telling you on screen which devices passed, making any fault finding very simple.

We cool our pumps as standard, to protect the pump seals and your Blazemaster pipe and to comply with the Machinery Equipment Directive.

Valves for Cat 2, 3 and 4 need to be monitored, we provide an FM approved delivery valve, the suction can be added and is LPCB, FM and VdS approved.

Category 4 pumps need to be power backed up, we have been doing this for years and have been programming and protecting the UPS systems as a turnkey package.

Dumping an IP20 UPS in a sprinkler protected room- this is very dangerous. We elevate our UPS from flood risk and protect it in a rain cabinet. We also provide fusing and isolation and labelling for power in and power out- it's just plug and pump.

Vent valves have to be installed, our instructions have been explaining this for years. It is critical as air is a risk to plastic pipe systems and has the effect of slowing a pressure drop and slowing pumping pressure response, both critical to meet BS 9251 2021 weekly test.

PDVs need to close on power failure, we've never done anything else.

PDVs should have a bypass, our 3D modelled videos have shown this for years.

The rules are slowly catching up with our innovations, as the market leader, we have of course taken BS 9251 2021 to the next level.
